JULIJA NAWALNAJA To Give the Voice to the Voiceless: What Is Going On in Russia in the 5th Year of the War Against Ukraine?

Every year, the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS organizes the Bucerius Summer School, a ten-day focus and networking program where around 50 future leaders from politics, business, media and NGOs meet with renowned experts. An integral part of the program is a presentation visit to the summer festival and the invitation of a speaker for a public event. This time, Yulia Navalnaya, one of Russia's best-known human rights activists, will be our guest. In a lecture followed by a discussion, Navalnaya will take a look at Russia since the beginning of the war of aggression against Ukraine and talk about her work as a freedom fighter. Navalnaya, born in Moscow in 1976, studied International Economics at the Russian Plekhanov University of Economics and was actively involved in the fight for democratic change in Russia together with her husband, Alexei Navalny. After Alexei Navalny's death, she announced that she would continue his work.
