Literature can do what urban development debates and sociology seminars cannot: make a place audible from the inside. With their writings about Cologne-Mülheim, Maryam Aras and Selim Özdogan reveal that the stories of this neighborhood have long since become literature. Grand, headstrong, keenly observant literature about Mülheim and its people—some of whom simply forgot to leave, and others who consciously made the neighborhood their own. The stories are there. They just need a space. Where, if not at the Kulturbunker, the oldest cultural venue in the neighborhood?
