Akimoto Nitarō (Nitaboh) suffers strokes of fate at a young age. He goes blind at the age of eight and is orphaned at eleven. Left to his own devices, Nitaboh meets a "goze", a blind shamisen player, who teaches him... The award-winning anime tells the life story of Nitaboh, the founder of Tsugaru shamisen music. The sounds of the three-stringed Japanese long-necked lute are very popular in Japan.
