Hardly any wild animal is the subject of as much controversy as the wolf: For some, it is a fascinating symbol of successful ecological recovery; for others, it is a
challenge—for example, to livestock farming. Between fairy-tale images of the “big bad wolf” and current political debates, the question arises: How should
we deal with this returning species? In this online lecture, we’ll take an in-depth look at the wolf’s way of life, behavior, and ecological role. At the same time, we’ll explore
current developments in Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the question of how humans, livestock, and wolves can coexist successfully.
