followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists on the organ loft
Songyeon Im earned her bachelor’s degree in Seoul and is currently studying in both Leipzig and Paris. She recently won first prize at the Grand Prix d’Orgue Jean-Louis Florentz in Angers, and last year she impressed as the winner of the International Organ Competition in Dudelange (Luxembourg). Such accolades require not only flawless technique but also the ability to breathe life and vitality into the inherently static sound of the organ—a true art! Songyeon has already performed in all of Paris’s major cathedrals—and now she’ll be playing a lot of French music for us, including an arrangement of Debussy’s (1862–1918) magnificent “Afternoon Music.”
