IN THE PRESENCE OF THE DIRECTOR AND THE PRODUCERS. Drama set in a Bavarian village in 1932. After several murders occur, rumours arise that a werewolf is terrorizing the people.
In a small village in Bavaria in 1932, four teenagers are bestially murdered. To calm the villagers, the local council, led by mayor Bernhard "Hartl" Aichinger and farmer Georg Steiner, blames the crime on a rabid wolf. After rumors grow louder that the murderer must be a human or even a werewolf, a culprit is found in Joseph Köhler, who is notorious as a hermit.
As the National Socialists are gaining the upper hand in Munich, Hartl does not want to report the murder there. Village priest Hias Lechner comes up with the saving idea: following the instructions of the "Hexenhammer", a medieval manual for witch trials, Joseph Köhler is accused of being a werewolf according to church law.
This prompts the landlady Mini, together with the other women of the village, to act as a voice of reason and try to combat the madness that has gripped the actually sensible villagers.
