"Short Cuts" unites three important personalities from the New York improvisation scene in an extraordinary trio: saxophonist and clarinettist Ned Rothenberg, pianist Sylvie Courvoisier and drummer Nasheet Waits. Rooted in progressive jazz and at the same time open to contemporary chamber music and global influences, the ensemble develops music full of openness, tension and sonic precision.

Between experimental sound research, rhythmic agility and lyrical transparency, a musical exchange unfolds that is completely improvised and yet has a remarkable inner structure. The absence of a bass instrument creates additional freedom for harmonic openness, spontaneous interaction and flexible sound design. Fine textures, impulsive dynamics and energetic outbursts combine to create a multi-faceted concert experience that deliberately defies any stylistic classification.
