Guest performance with the Darmstadt Kantorei
“Bridges of Hope: Mendelssohn & Bernstein”
A musical symbol of unity: The Darmstadt Kantorei and the Freiberg Cathedral Choir, together with the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, present two radiant works by Jewish composers—Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s“Lobgesang”and Leonard Bernstein’s“Chichester Psalms”. Both pieces bridge Jewish and Christian traditions and symbolize the journey from darkness to light, embodying hope and humanity.
The concert is a collaboration with Darmstadt’s Saxon sister city, Freiberg, and sends a powerful message of dialogue and solidarity in times of social division. With over 130 singers and orchestra musicians, this afternoon will be a celebration of music and togetherness.
