Estonia 2023, documentary, 78 min, OmU. D: Kaupo Kruusiauk
Kaupo Kruusiauk accompanied Estonian jazz saxophonist, composer and band leader Maria Faust for three years. The musician, who was born on the island of Saaremaa and has lived mainly in Denmark for 20 years, has won numerous international awards. In his documentary, the director paints a personal portrait of the "strong woman from the island" in the context of a male-dominated music world. The film follows the creation process of Maria Faust's works "Maarja missa", "Organ" and "MOnuMENT", the eventful life behind these works and its influence on her creative work.
