In honor of National Heritage Day, the “Klangdenkmäler” concert invites you to a musical contemplation of eternity. Just as buildings visibly preserve memories across generations, music, too, can become an audible monument that transcends time and transience and connects generations.

The program centers on works by Arvo Pärt, whose music, like almost no other, is characterized by concentration, silence, and spiritual depth. With *Für Alina*, *Summa*, *Silouan’s Song*, and *Fratres*, the concert features compositions that unfold an extraordinary intensity through their minimalist musical language. Pärt’s music seems to exist outside of time. It lingers, breathes, and invites the listener to turn their gaze inward.
The Adagio from Anton Bruckner’s String Quintet serves as both a counterpoint to and an extension of this sonic world. With its sweeping melodies and profound introspection, it opens up a sonic space of great emotional power. The program concludes with Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous Air, a work of timeless beauty that has moved people for centuries and has lost none of its expressive power to this day. Thus, the program brings together three composers from different eras whose music speaks to universal experiences.
