In rural Mozambique, Pastor Hélder struggles with a dwindling congregation and a deep crisis of faith. In search of guidance, he encounters a witch whose magic grants him new strength, healing powers, and numerous followers. But his growing influence comes at a price: to maintain his reputation as a miracle worker, Hélder must make ever-greater sacrifices. Shot in striking black-and-white on film, the movie explores the tension between Christian faith and sorcery, weaving it into a powerful parable about temptation, power, ambition, and the limits of faith. O PROFETA celebrates its German premiere at the AFFK.
