Machado is a Colombian immigrant who has been living in France for several years, where he works as a grape picker. Through an acquaintance, he meets Madame Chiara, a jewelry collector who hires him to travel to Colombia and steal an emerald. Although Machado insists that returning would be dangerous for him, Chiara convinces him with an offer he can’t refuse. Between the hustle and bustle of Medellín and the mountains, he becomes caught up in a chain of events that makes him question the gem’s true destination.

A gangster film that plays by its own rules: With a light touch, Simón Vélez’s feature film debut eschews linear storytelling in favor of understated action, unconventional settings, and a visual language that elegantly circumvents common clichés about Colombia.

Flingern-Lichtspiele

The summer open-air cinema in Flingern. In August, we screen a total of eight films every Thursday and Saturday on the terrace behind the building. Screenings begin after dark; doors open at 9:00 p.m. Folding chairs and lounge chairs are available, and there is a bar. In case of rain, we screen the films indoors.
