In the organizer's words:
With her unconventional, imaginative books full of whimsical ideas and human depths,Dora Kaprálováis currently the most important voice in Czech literature based in Berlin. We introduce her and her work, and also take a closer look at her latest book, a magical portrait of a small European town—complete with a dictator and a hypnotist—as seen through the eyes of a housefly: *The Maribor Hypnosis*has just been awarded the 2026 EULP Grand Prize (European Literature Prize).
With this sneak preview, we get our first glimpse of the new novel—which is currently still in translation—in its German translation. “The Maribor Hypnosis” has already won this year’s Magnesia Litera Prize in the Czech Republic—specifically the main “Kniha roku” (Book of the Year)—as well as the Luxor Litera za prózu (Luxor Litera for Prose). However, the book will not be published in German by mikrotext until September: The author will be reading from it together with her translator,Nataša von Kopp!
