In the organizer's words:
The young saxophonist Emma Rawicz is one of the most exciting musicians in contemporary British jazz and has just won the Jazz FM Award for "UK Jazz Artist of the Year". She released her first album "Incantation" at the age of 19 and since then has gone on to produce other great albums, all of them exciting statements from a new generation: jazz full of finely nuanced moods, open to a wide range of influences, dynamic, mature and emotional. In her search for artistic development, Emma Rawicz joined the WDR Big Band in March: at the concert in the "Young Cats" series, she thrilled the audience as a soloist and charming presenter, but above all as a conductor and arranger of her own compositions in colorful, large-orchestral splendor. British modern jazz guitarist David Preston, with whom Emma Rawicz had previously played in a quartet, was also present. Both are now following Paul Heller's invitation to the Stadtgarten, where they will be accompanied by Heller and an excellent rhythm section. "Sometimes," Emma Rawicz once said, "it feels like we're leaving orbit, like we can just take off. It's like a cosmic journey for me: We don't know where we'll end up, only that we'll arrive back together."
