Peter Thiel believes in the end of history - and wants to speed it up. A new political theology is emerging from Silicon Valley: apocalyptic, anti-democratic, messianic. Wolfgang Palaver, theologian and academic teacher of Peter Thiel, has shed light on the religious roots of this thinking. Journalist and author Arnd Henze looks at the political practice of such ideologies: In his book With God against Democracy, he shows how Christian nationalism - particularly in the USA - is becoming a threat to democracy and the rule of law.
Together they will discuss the connection between tech elites and religious world views - and how open societies can stand up to anti-democratic promises of salvation. Moderator: Joachim Frank
