Leaving the world of humans behind

The apartment of Jan, a shy biology student, is full of aquariums, terrariums and cages. His love of animals brings him together with Alice, a radical environmental activist with whom he eventually falls in love. When Jan slips into a schizophrenic crisis, an intoxicating maelstrom of love and delusion begins, culminating in the decision to start a new life.

Sebastian Fritzsch brings an extraordinarily personal perspective to his work: he himself has experienced psychosis and knows the challenging, often painful moments that accompany it. But he has also experienced how these experiences can trigger creative processes. "Der Wald in mir" is not just a film, but a reflection of his own life - an artistic testimony to his inner journey.
