Once again , we have the pleasure of welcoming Ukrainian organist Taras Baginets to the Organ Summer as a masterful organist: He captivates audiences with his stylistic versatility in over 50 concerts annually across Northern and Eastern Europe. He is the founder and director of the largest Russian Bach festival in Yekaterinburg. While the works of Johann Sebastian Bach are a central focus of his concerts and discography, we will also hear him perform contemporary music on the Mühleisen organ: The composer Kolessa (1903–2006) enjoyed an enormous reputation in his homeland, Ukraine. He even held a professorship in conducting at the age of 100! His work bears folkloric and impressionistic traits.
