Richard Bargel turns 75. A founding father and veteran of the German blues scene. As early as the mid-1960s, he was one of the first blues musicians in Germany to play the slide guitar and perform on German stages with a Dobro guitar. Over the years, Bargel has been awarded the German Record Critics’ Prize three times for his musical productions. His concert with Grammy winner Charlie Musselwhite is legendary. The YouTube video of their joint concert has already been viewed over 3.3 million times. For the anniversary concert, the Cologne blues legend will be accompanied by his band “Dead Slow Stampede,” featuring Fabio Nettekoven (guitar, pedal steel, mandolin, and more), Martin Drazek (keyboards), Jo Didderen (bass), and Geert Roloefs (drums/percussion). A retrospective of Bargel’s musical career as a musician and songwriter—a selection of songs spanning six decades.
